Dr. Marcello Iriti is a Professor of Plant Biology and
Pathology in the Department of Biomedical, Surgical and Dental Sciences
and Member of the Board of the PhD School in Sciences for Food Systems,
Milan State University. His major research area is studying bioactive
phytochemicals relevant for human nutrition and health, including
melatonin, polyphenols and carotenoids, focusing on their functional
role in planta, as well as on in vitro/in vivo and in human biological
activities. Furthermore, he has been involved in investigating the
effects of elicitors on plant secondary metabolism, as an approach to
obtain phytochemical-enriched plant foods. He has published more than
260 articles. He is an acting Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editorial
position in various reputed scientific journals in the scientific
platform.
